Butlin's Skegness Resort

Restaurant | Skegness | England | United Kingdom

The "Butlin's Skegness Resort" in Skegness, England, is not a single restaurant in the traditional sense, but a sprawling holiday resort that offers a variety of dining options within its grounds. As the first Butlin's holiday camp, founded in 1936 by Billy Butlin, it is located on the Lincolnshire coast and has evolved over decades into a popular family vacation destination. The culinary offerings are a central part of the resort experience, ranging from casual snacks to themed restaurants to family-friendly buffets designed to cater to the varied needs of guests - whether after a day full of activities such as swimming, rides, or shows.

The atmosphere of the restaurants at the Butlin's Skegness Resort is lively and relaxed, characterized by the cheerful energy of a typical British holiday camp. Many of the dining areas are located in large, open pavilions like the Skyline Pavilion, where the architecture - an impressive tent structure - provides a unique backdrop. The decor is colorful and functional, with a touch of nostalgia reminiscent of the resort's origins, combined with modern amenities ensuring guest comfort. The restaurants are designed to appeal to families with children as well as groups or couples, with proximity to entertainment areas allowing for a seamless transition between dining and leisure.

Culinarily, the resort offers a wide range of options, from traditional British cuisine to international influences. In the "Yacht Club," the Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding stands out - a classic Sunday roast with tender beef, fluffy puddings, and rich gravy that perfectly captures the British taste. For a quick but delicious snack, the Burger King on-site offers the Whopper, a juicy burger with fresh ingredients, perfect for when time is of the essence. In Ludo's Italian, the Spaghetti Carbonara entices with a creamy sauce and crispy bacon, bringing a touch of Italian authenticity to the resort.

For families, the Food Court offers a variety of buffets, with the Chicken Curry being particularly popular - a mildly spiced dish with fragrant rice that delights both children and adults. The side dishes are also a highlight: the Chunky Chips - thick-cut, golden-brown fries - are a favorite, often served with a splash of vinegar, in true British style. For dessert, Scoops offers homemade ice cream, with the Salted Caramel flavor standing out with its sweet-salty note, perfect for a day at the nearby beach.

The Butlin's Skegness Resort places great emphasis on flexibility and diversity, with options like the Premium Dining plan facilitating access to various restaurants, as well as self-catering kitchens in accommodations for guests who prefer to cook for themselves. The food is freshly prepared, often using local ingredients, and there are alternatives for various dietary needs, including vegetarian and vegan dishes - such as a Vegetable Stir-Fry with crisp vegetables and a spicy soy sauce. The drinks selection includes everything from classic British teas to cold beers to colorful cocktails served at the Sky Bar, enhancing the relaxed holiday atmosphere.

The service is friendly and efficient, with a team trained to ensure a smooth operation even during peak times - such as the high season or special events. Many restaurants offer takeaway options, perfect for guests who want to take their food to shows or to the beach. The proximity to Skegness' Blue Flag Beach and the variety of activities - from the huge indoor water park Splash Waterworld to the SKYPARK playground - make dining here part of a larger experience that brings families together.

Overall, the "Butlin's Skegness Resort" with its restaurants offers a culinary journey that combines the spirit of a classic British holiday camp with modern comfort and international flair. It is a place that aims to not only satisfy guests but also instill a sense of community and joy - whether through a hearty meal after a day of adventure or a quick snack between rides. The dining facilities are an essential part of what has made this resort a popular destination for generations of holidaymakers for almost a century.

Worst Holiday camp by miles the rooms are nasty and mouldy no matter what grade accommodation you chose the staff ive came across have been very rude and didn't care about there job or customers so id highly recommend taking your money to a diffirent holiday resort in Skegness as it's that bad Stephen Mulhern and the other big acts are only there for the money hence why there shows are all less then an hour and not like they used to be an hour plus

Filthy dirty. Oven dirty. Underwear from last occupation on the bathroom floor. Bedding doesn't fit. Venues absolutely Filthy dirty. Entertainment has drastically gone downhill. This place is not worth £1100 quid a week. Do your research before booking. The £1100 quid does not cover the majority of activities.

Could definitely do with an update in the accommodations but overall the family love it. Been several times over the years and would still go back.

Butlins Big Weekender If you want a weekend FULL of entertainment, music, fun and great atmosphere then these party weekends are what you need. The come down is hard though as you have so much fun. The energy you need is unbelievable but you ride the wave and rest when you are home. Bar prices are very reasonable along with the on site Nisa shop. Get your theme outfits ready and party

The reason I have given it 4 stars is because the entertainment was really good. I like the fact you had to book before you arrived. for the entertainment. At least that way, you got in ok, unlike before when you had to queue really early if you wanted to get a seat. The accommodation was basic, with no towels, not even a chair to sit on if needed.the beds were uncomfortable, and the sheets had a stain on them. But we did pay for budget accommodation ! The curtains were two different lengths

Day visit only. Wasn't that impressed. Staff were very nice and attentive, but the place overall was a bit shabby. The toilets in the old spa were very poor. NEEDS a lot more attention to detail, and the venue could be great.
